GB- IBM Auction A Gotta See !
"Buy the gun, not the story"
But When the story goes with the gun.... Provenance... ?
Incredible amount of effort put forth by this seller.
I read every word, looked at every picture.
Wow !

Could you imagine trying to explain this 20-30 years from now? I love stories and history but sometimes it complicates things. I buy because regardless of the story, the item sells itself if it's good ... nothing like a no 4T, lottery M1D, or an M41/b etc... they have a voice on their own. It might be hogwash but that's how I think as a collector with the future in mind. Andy

I hear you Andy,
But imagine how many hours of work the seller has put in. At minimum wage.......... I'd hate to wonder what the Reserve Price could be if he's trying to recoup his time!
Thx

I'd like to copy that display chest, but more rustic.

They have had this on gunbroker for well over a year now, they have been trying to get somewhere in the $13,000-$15,000 range for this group without much luck. I can pretty much guarantee the reserve is close to that $13,000 they want

Highest it has ever been bid is $3,000 http://www.gunbroker.com/All/Complet...rame=1&Sort=13
They need to move on and take it to auction like RIA to get a real value of what people may pay, pretty sure it ain't $15,000!!

Interesting that the flip is just marked S. Thought those were only used in early IBM production?

Nice case. He spent some extra fees listing all those pictues.

It's a ridiculous amount of story to go with a firearm though. Two buyers from now it will all be forgotten.

Hell I read it yesterday and have already forgot the story... and the specs on the carbine.
Will have to sift thru the whole mess to see the gun again.
Wonder what my time is worth $

Nice case, agreed, but like a custom home; a hard sell... split up might be a quick escape.. the chest is a personal thing (worth more to yourself than anyone). Now if it was stalin's or patton's chest?? Eh, much different story.
