Help with magazine ID
It is unmarked except for an S on the lip of the base plate (looking down from the top of the mag). It appears to be military. No spot weld marks on the sides, usual holes in the sides.
Thanks for any help
Dave

The magazine was assembled by the Scovill Mfg. Co. in WWII. Normally the WWII magazines do not show much of a weld mark, so look closely to see if it is pinned. With the magazine disassembled, you can look inside the magazine to see if the base plate is flat or has two raised areas for the pins to go through.

Thank you very much for the information
Is it safe to assume that all 50-60s commercial magazines are marked " Colt 45"
on the base plate?
Thanks again Mr Peppers

Colt started marking their .45 magazines with COLT .45 AUTO in the 1933 time period, and continued this practice on the post WWII magazines. In about the 1970 time period they also added the Rampant Colt to the base of the magazine.
The knock off magazines also used the COLT .45 AUTO marking, so the marking alone does not guarantee a Colt magazine.
