Are mismatched stocks common?
I haven't owned an Enfield in a long time. All the ones I had pretty much matched.
Found a Mk4 in a local pawn shop that looks pretty good but the forearm is much lighter than the rest of the wood.
It's a numbers matching rifle, including the mag, 1944 date. Didn't have time to pull the bolt and inspect, or even note the markings. Had to run.
Going back today to inspect.

The short answer is yes, it's perfectly normal. They were stained sometimes to get a reasonable match but not always.
The rifle is a No.4, not Mk.4.
