Canadian made rear sight with the sight leaf from a Canadian Ross Mk. III rifle.
These sights are unique to Canada and were an early attempt at a Canadian sight mainly used for target shooting.
Their total history is a bit sketchy as no one is 100% sure how they evolved but you will find them Canadian marked with the C broad arrow.
Attachment is through a modified ejector screw.
Your sight leaf is made by H.W. Cooey of Canadian arms making fame who also made the sights for the Mk. III Ross.

It is a Ross sight for the MkIII Ross with the adaptor to fit the SMLE. It was intended for use only on the .22" No2 Lee Enfield.
