I have a damaged Oswald scope mount for the M38 Carcano rifle. Could any of you who own an undamaged, complete mount please provide a full scale 1:1 sketch with dimensions, screw hole placement with center-to-center hole measurements, etc.
Removed lower, forward corner can be seen in photo.
I can have a metal worker attach a repair section and place the forward hole at the correct spot.
Please provide info on the forum or PM me.
Thanks

Jason, I drew this up as a starting point for anyone who wants to contribute some dimensions. If nothing else, if you give me dimension ‘A’ (off your existing mount) I can scale the photo using my CAD software and get the rest of the dimensions reasonably close. Salt Flat
Thanks for your help. This will have to wait until I get home in several weeks, so that I can make a measurement. I really do not want to depend on someone else doing it.
What sort of material is this mount made from? Can a specific type of steel, gage, etc be given? Would want/need to know for metal worker to attach new piece. Also, the repair section would not have the end of the reinforcement radius stamped into it. I suppose a good metal worker could match that.
Thanks,
Jason

Jason, The material is just mild steel or hot rolled steel. If you need to buy a piece specify astm A36. (Welds and forms easily). Thickness to match your mount. Your welder might have some scraps available otherwise a good place to buy some is Metal Supermarkets. There is an outlet in most large cities and they are very helpful to people with DIY projects. Also your metal worker should be able to form that missing piece to match the radius on the mount. Salt Flat.
