Ross rifle shoot - 1913 Bisley Commemorative - Calgary, Alberta: July 6 & 7
To commemorate William “Bill” Hawkins taking of the Kings Prize at Bisley in 1913, using a Ross rifle, and the success of the Ross in Bisley shooting competitions overall, a Ross-focused target event is scheduled to take place west of Calgary in early July this year.
This two-day event will take place July 6 and 7, 2013 on the Alberta Fullbore Rifle Association (AFRA) – 900-metre range at the Alberta Provincial Rifle Association (APRA) – Homestead Shooting Facility, located in the foothills of the Rockies, 45 minutes west of Calgary.
We’ll have a chance to try our Ross rifles out at 100, 200 and 400 metres on scored targets and, for fun, on the Saturday we’ll see what we can do out a bit further. Of course, lots of opportunity to talk Ross rifles through the weekend.
Registration will be limited to 36 shooters so pre-registration is required. While the event is focused on celebrating the Ross Rifle in all its forms, and it would be great to fill it up with nothing but Ross rifles, the event will be open to other battle rifles.
Further event details and registration/payment information can be found at: http://www.btsa.ca/matches/?page_id=4 (slide down the list of events on the page to the listing for the “Ross Rifle Shoot and Battle Rifle Event”).
For those from away, those dates coincide with the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede in case you wanted to come see those sights as well.

Sporterized Ross rifles are welcome. So many of them wound up being cut down, it would be a shame to eliminate them.

Are there still spots open? I'd really like to come but not sure if I will have both my Rosses ready in time.

Sorry for the slow reply. Yes, spots still open. I'll be promoting the event at the big Easter show here in Calgary. You could register with a non-Ross milsurp as a backup, but I hope your Ross rifles come together in time.

No worries! Do you happen to know off hand if there are any nice campgrounds nearby?

The closest campground is just a bit further down the Sibbald Creek Trail (Hwy 68) past the turnoff to the range - the Sibbald Lake Campground: http://www.bowvalleycampgrounds.com/cgrounds.html
There's an RV campground just west of the Calgary City limits at Calaway Park: http://www.calawaypark.com
Some provincial campground options further out toward Nakiska and K-country, further west of Calgary than the range: Kananaskis Country Campgrounds camping in Alberta
Book early as these fill up right away given it's Stampede time.

Thanks for answering my questions, few more for you...
I own a later than '45 manufactured Garand ('55 Breda) will it be legal in the autoloader class?
Also are repro snipers allowable for the scoped class?
Thanks

No problem on the Garand, it's the model "year" that applies here. Garands are fine, but FN49s are not, for example.
As for the repro sniper, the term repro means different things. The requirement is for "original issue-type scope or diopters". We're aiming for original snipers, which would include those M-N 91/30 snipers recently available for sale, but if you've got a new Gibbs repro or something similar, bring it along. This is a fun shoot. If we get a mix of original and repros, maybe we'll split the class.

A nudge to the top to point out the addition of the event logo in the original post. Certificates for participants are designed as well.
