    Ross 280 barrel

I have a Ross 280 barrel and would like to mate it with some action.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks, Eli

Yes...a Ross action. Or do you mean a blank in .280 Ross?

Is the bore good enough to warrant using it? Full length? Sights?
It could be used to rebarrel a M-10 with a lesser barrel.
Or it could be fitted to a Mk.III receiver from a bubba'd service rifle.

    barrel

It came off a 280 Ross commercial model. The 280 is longer than a 303 and won't work in the military action.

    Thanks

The Mk III action and the M- 10 .280 actions are virtually the same. The only difference is the feed ramp is notched on the Mk III.

If you don`t want to single feed it, you will need to source a box mag from a M-10 .280 or build one.

As Ax.303 said "The Mk III action and the M- 10 .280 actions are virtually the same. The only difference is the feed ramp is notched on the Mk III. If you don`t want to single feed it, you will need to source a box mag from a M-10 .280 or build one." This will work although sourcing parts may be more difficult than finding another .280 rifle.

If you wish to use the barrel on another action it could be fitted to a Remington Model 30 or Enfield 1917 or P-14 with the modifications necessary - open bolt face, lengthen magazine and work on feed rails.
