Need Help With Tracer Load --

Recently I was given several 1000 pulled M62 .308 tracer tips. After weighing several, they all seem to be in the 140gr range. My concern is actually the length of the tips and the possibility of seating them too deep as to compress a powder charge. They are rather long as compared to the M80 tips. Anyone out there have any experience reloading the M62s for the M1Aicon? If so, would you mind sharing some loading data. They will be shot in the M1A Scout and bolt gun. Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to render!!

43g Varget is what I have used with no problems. Varget is safe for opp rod presures. And for added fun pierce the foil in the bottom with a needle. M62 tracer will light just barely out of the barrel.

I use H335 or AA2230 for reloaded M62 tracer bullets in 7.62 in my M1Aicon using LC cases and WLR primers. If you have a chronograph start at 40 gr and work up in 1/2 gr increments until velocity equals 2650 fps in the M1A scout. If you don't have a chronograph consider 44 gr to be a max load. Again, work up the load, do not just assume the 44 gr load is safe.

I've loaded and fired a bunch of them with 42.5 gr. of IMR 4895. No issues thus far.
