    CCTV.....

For anyone looking to set up a CCTV system, there was a few discounted products on Amazon, so I took the plunge as my old system was dated.......

So it arrived next day and plodded along setting it up, the idea was to access it while away using the iPhone, this is were it all started to go wrong..... all though I could view it on the home wifi I couldn't access it when away from the property although I had gone into the router and set up a service and firewall for port forwarding (with the great help of a friend) still no joy, after many hours searching the net for info there was a small snippet I seen so tried this and....... success , so can view at home or anywhere else just over the phone, just need to set up the alarm bit and email......

So if anyone in the future is in this predicament then don't despair, I was sceptical as the more I read on the net, the ports available on most or newer DVR's have a mobile port......, I only had media and HTTP I was thinking maybe thats why it was cheap...... but its working, the cameras are decent and infra red..... well chuffed and learnt a good deal on routers and IT etc.
