You guys sure got a lot of space down there, look at the size of that parade ground. I thought Montana was spread out!

When I was a kid in East Tennessee, I looked at scenes of wide open spaces like that and simply couldn't imagine them. Where's the hill that has to be in the background? You see, in the hills of East Tennessee, the only level spaces are created by cutting them out of the side of a hill. Need a football stadium for a high school? No problem: build the bleachers as a retaining wall up the side of hill that was cut away when you created the field. There are lots of split-level homes.

Mark in Rochester, Do you have the location of this base? I am torn between Marfa and Gainesville. Might not even be these two. Those two large silhouettes of the buildings in the background has got me puzzled. I work at Fort Hood, so I know that without the trees and Hill country silhouettes it is not here. Thanks,
Dan

I believe that it is Fort Sam Houston outside of San Antonio TX. The large building on the left is Brooke Army Medical Center and the cluster of Baracks was the Army Medical Field Servce School whichI attended back in 1969.
