Thanks Dan!!
Thanks, Dan,
For that link. I just finished a book about that part of WWI.
If that history interests you, then read "A Storm in Flanders" by Winston Groom. He is a good writer of many things, ( Forrest Gump) but this book is not about all of WWI: only about the battle for the Ypres salient from 1914-1918.
The battle mentioned in your posting (Passchendaele) is well mentioned in the book. While the particular participant was not mentioned by name, there is a passage mentioning a great defense/offense in which machine-guns played a major part.
Thanks, again,
Emri
P.S.- I also liked his book "1942" , but maybe because I can relate to the area he grew up in.
