    Identifying a new to me No4 Mk1

It has the "ENGLAND" stamped under the safety. It appears not to have not been over-used and has all matching numbers.

Would someone tell me more about this rifle please? The fore-end has been Bubba'd and I am thinking of restoring it.

Manufactured in Yorkshire at the ROF Maltby factory in 1943 - Served its time, kept 'on issue' for a few years after the war, then went into storage for a few more years, then sold off into the UKicon civilian gun market (hence the UK proof marks) eventually made it to the USAicon prior to 1968 (hence the pre-1968 US Import mark)
Bubbarised, and eventually made into your hands.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...
