Help with restoring a NZ marked 1907 Bayonet
Hi looking at purchasing a NZ marked 1907 bayonet dated 9/18, but it is missing the locking mecanism. I recently purchased a bunch of 303 parts and with it came what I think is the complete locking mecanism for a 1888 bayonet. I can purchase a 1907 stud and spring online but am in need of the locking nut (sorry don't know the correct term). Is the locking nut of a 1888 bayonet compatable with a 1907 bayonet locking stud?

get a Turk cut down 07 which are cheap and you can get the full catch, but there ar slight differences and I've ehard that its not always swappable.

The catch parts were all hand fitted so unless you are excptionally lucky or good with a file and can fit them with bench fitting accuracy, you won't find a second hand part that fits. You could easily make the nut part that you're missing and I seem to remember that the thread size is pretty close to 1 (or is it 2?) BA size - but don't quote me

Unfortunately, the nut or press stud of a P1888 bayonet is not compatiable with the P1907 locking bolt, it is too small. If you get stuck send me a private message as I can supply the locking bolt nut "press stud" or the whole or any part of the locking mechanism. These are original and new parts. If its just the nut then no problem but the locking bolt does always need some hand fitting.
