Cocking lever on Gahendra
Just bought a Nepalese Gahendra from IMA. The owner says it was dry fired before they shipped it to me. But I can't get the cocking lever to budge. I don't want to force it, and risk breaking something inside. Is there some technique or trick to loading this rifle that I'm obviously missing?

It is possible that something has broken and is now jambing the action. Some people have reported that the cleaning rod, when pushed in, drove the stop plate into the action and prevented it from being cycled. I would start by taking the cleaning rod out. Then remove the butt stock and action screws and see if that allows you to figure out the problem. if that doesn't help try asking for help on the british forum site: britishmilitariaforums.yuku.com.

With mine, I found that a longer than standard cleaning rod had been jammed in, bending the stop plate and blocking the lever from moving. After stripping and restoring, the problem was there and close inspection revealed a thin sliver of packing grease under the stop plate. That was enough to stop the lever from moving, so make sure it is really clean and set into the wood flush.

Mine had no stop plate for the cleaning rod, which was too long and had British stamps on it. It will only cock if you pull the cleaning rod out at least an inch or two.

Gahendra cleaning rod
jamie5070, Bandit12, KentS,
That's exactly what the problem was. I pulled the cleaning rod forward about 1/2 inch and everything now funstions properly. It's amazing how a simple thing like that can have such monumental consequences. I never would have figured that out without your advice.

Gahendra Loading Lever Wanted
Does anyone have a Gahendra loading lever I could buy??? If not then maybe a full size drawing with dimensions then I might be able to make one. The outline of areal one would do.
About the jammed lever - probably just gummed up on the inside..take it apart and clean it ..always a good idea anyway.
Thanks

JMG123, Try asking on the british gun board I mentioned earlier, if you don't find one. You could also see about getting a parts gun from IMA and ask for one with a lever.
