7X57 Mauser case trimming
What have you been using to trim 7MM mauser cases? I like the Lee drill chuck system with a shell base and a trim cutter. I haven't been able to find one for 7MM mauser.
I don't really want to buy one of the electric or manual trimming sets from rcbs or lyman.
RCBS used to have a trim length die you could use but they quit making it I think, can't find one of those either. Filing by hand is a pita and never comes out straight.
Anybody got any ideas?

You can order the Lee tool directly from them for $5.50 - see Lee Precision, Inc. Reloading Tools and Equipment: Case Conditioning Tools
Product # 90130 GAGE/HOLDER_7X57_MAUSER $5.50
Personally, I prefer the versatility of the Forster case trimmer. It's a better investment than a flock of Lee trimmer parts.

Parashooter, thanks. I looked at the Lee site but was never able to get the holder and other part. Only got the chuck piece and the cutter on their site. Ordered the items should have them pretty soon.

A frind just bought a 7x57 rolling block & wants to use .30-06 brass. We push the neck back in a .308 sizer than push it through the 7x57 sizer. I used a Possum Hollow trimmer to trim & it takes off the .25" excess in about 30 seconds when mounted in a drill. The PH works great. PH does not list a trimmer for the 7x57 but in corresponding with the owner, he said the one for the .30-o6 works. I tried it & length was fine.

I've all sorts of case trimmers, but the Lee sets are used the most. True, you do have to keep track of the individual parts, but fishing tackle baxes are dandy for keeping it all organized.
Although you don't have any adjustments, the Lee trimmers cut more uniformly for me, partly because rim thickness variations don't affect trim length like those units that utilize conventional shell holders.
I have a 7mm Mauser trimmer amongst quite afew other calibers for which I don't own weapons! I buy odd sizes when they show up, just in case...
Oh, one point in their disfavor- the pilot shaft can grow shorter if the cutter digs into the shoulder at the threaded end. It's no biggie, generally it takes a few thousand cases to really hurt anything, and they're really cheap to replace.... (I have yet to wear out one of their cutters, though.)
If I'm trimming a big box of cases it's really easy to set the Lee trimmer in the drill press. My press also has a good spindle stop, so OAL can be controlled that way as well.
