Servus,
the best way is to slug the bore. The Mosins have different calibers from .308 up to .312. We used a .312 H&N bullet with grease and measured the bore. Normaly it is .311 but we had also the .308. If you shoot only 100 yards the H&N will be a good bullet or use a normal bullet with VV N110 powder. My comrade use this in his long Mosin with excelent results. From where in Northern Italy do you come from? Südtirol?

The .303 bullets are available in .311 and .312 so you can use them also in the Mosin.

Servus, gunner !
Ich bin kein Südtiroler, aber ich liebe Bayern und Franken.
My Mosin is a Soviet one captured and re-worked by the Finns. It's marked "D" and because of that its "natural" bullets are the Finn D166. Such a bullet is in .310 and for my Mosin has only one unpleasant problem: it costs too much! For the rest, especially on the 200 meters line, it's ok! Changing for something cheaper I tryed Sierra Spitzer in .311 and using Vithavuori N140 me and my buddy reached good results, good closed groups. Then I heare two fellows talking about bullets in .308 always shooting a Finn M91/30. From that starts my question. Vielen Dank für deine Antwort - alle Ratschläge sind nützlich! AD

Yes the VV N140 is a very good powder. I use it in all of my rifles. Eventually the S&B 180grs. FMJBT will work out of your rifle. I use them in my LE. Hunting Sport offers it for €165 per 1000.
