MN chambering issues
my M-N for some reason with 5 rounds loaded in magazine the bolt does not want to strip the round off into the chamber. If I unload the first round manually the bolt functions just fine. all looks good and clean.
The bolt catches the rim of the cartridge and causes it to nose dive tip down?

Weak follower
Check the recoil spring, it can cause a weak mag follower.

Take the floorplate and follower assembly out and out/clean well. It may not be pushing up enough. Also, make sure to clean the interruptor/ejector parts. Cosmo or dirt in them will cause feed problems as well.
Here are dis-assembly instructions:
Mosin Nagant Rifle Exploded Views and Disassembly
I wouldn't take it all apart, just take off the floorplate assy and interruptor/ejector parts and clean those areas and see if it works. This rifle was designed to prevent the rimmed cartridges from jamming in the magazine, so if it is jamming, the interruptor/ejector isn't working. The follower assy should be very springy, so if it's sluggish when compressed, it needs cleaning. Breakfree CLP should loosen up the parts.
