USAF Early M16 Magazine Pouches
My good friend RCS had asked me about some 20 round magazine pouches he had. I had never seen them in my travels. The Air Force Museum site posted a picture of USAF Air Police searching for VC after an attack on Tan Son Nhut A.B. in 1966. There were the pouches in use. Note they are worn upside-down to aid in with drawing the mags. The other photo in the article shows the M16 rifle sling installed with the metal 'hook' on the upper swivel. I saw this method of use in a Navy drawing also. My early, undated Air Force AR-15 manual 50-12 shows the sling installed in this manner also.
