    Vz52/57?

    http://www.gunbroker.com/item/616504253

I would very much like to hear the results of the new owner's first trip to the range firing 7.62x39 in this. No expert here, but I've never seen a Vz52/57 made in 1956, without the distinctive receiver recesses for the upper barrel pin and with a Vz52 magazine.

Will a 7.62x39 actually fully chamber in a 7.62x45 barrel?

Says 7.62x(4)5 on the receiver next to the import mark, and is missing the 52/57 barrel cross pin though I don't know if Czechicon conversions got the cross pin added. Mag looks like a vz52 mag and not a vz52/57 mag which is the other odd thing. I'm wondering, if it is 7.62x39, if it has a chamber insert. I looked at one of these in x45 and those inserts did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling so I passed as at the time there was no real source for x45; they inserts are just held in with Loctite which is not suitable for applications that get hot (like, say, a gun's chamber). I could swear I read of some being converted in the US by rebarreling them but can't recall. A lot of the 52/57s have shiny black receiver covers and handguards too, that one only has the receiver cover but I'm not sure you can draw any conclusions strictly from that. Hope it really is as advertised as otherwise the buyer is going to be really disappointed.
