    Stolla Wien.....Austrian/Bavarian Sling?

Friend sent pictures of a early 6 digit mixer Inland. No Bavarian/Austrian markings on parts but stock, and handguard marked with 4 digits.

    Any info about this sling?

    TIA,
    Charlie-painter777

    USGI is exactly correct.
My understanding is when the Austrians got the carbines, they did not like our slings, so they contracted thru Stolla. He is a premier leather goods producer in Vienna.

    Hi Dave,
    Stolla closed up in 1970.
I found this on our hard working buddys web site....Austria M1 Carbine Accessories
I see he has a picture of the same sling marked 1ABT.5C62, and notes it has yet to be identified but made in 1962.Also see that the slingwell and handguard I pictured above have the 4 digits stamped like the Bavaria and Austria marked ones... The Carbines
The carbine pictures sent to me show a Inland 268,xxx with replacement Underwood 5-44 barrel and generally mixed parts.
Thing is.... none of the metal parts groups have any of the common Bavarian or Austrian markings.... Or any sign of being refinished.
My gut thoughts- This carbine was a late US WWII rebuild. No oil/drain hole drilled in the trigger housing, but updated with rear adj sight, new barrel, flip safety, bayo band... etc. The Stock and handguard were replaced with this one when sold.
Note the plugged hole on the stocks bottom and at the bottom of the handguard.
I'm thinking sling swivels were mounted at one time by someone.
Best I can come up with right now.

Also the stock has that shiny finish they like with the Inland CC sanded off the type III HI stock.
Plus neither 4 digit number matches any of the serial number on either the stock or handguard.

    Thx guys,
    Charlie-painter777
