Oakland Ca. LEO deaths
The weapon used in the shooting of police officers in Oakland was reported to be an AK 47. I really can't understand how that could happen since so called assaualt weapons have not been sold legally in Ca. since 2000.
Watch for Oakland mayor Ron Dellems (1960's radical) to start pushing for a national ban on all semi auto weapons.
I believe it should be investigated as a hate crime since the LEO's were white and the shooter was a negro.

Now that is racial profiling and besides, bad guy's don't have to register their weapons as this is a violation of their 5th amendment rights. Remember, they are outlaws. I.E. outside of the law and won't follow normal social structure. I have a long history of working with anti-socials and THEY DON'T THINK LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE.

An if it was an AK-47, how could that be in Kalifornia, that's a fully automatic capable firearm, and how could he have it in his possession, he was on parole? Inquiring minds want to know!

But,but.....Blacks (formerly known as Negroes, at which time it was an insult to call them Black) (And now that they are known as Blacks, its probably an insult to call them Negroes) People of Color NEVER commit "Hate Crimes" only Whitey does that. That seems to be the official position anyway.

Where's the cop bashing thread on this? On the old CSP this would have turned into cop bashing by now.

Luckily (for us) there is a passel of bad news today. Two major plane crashes, the one in Mont. involving a lot of kids, and the fiery crash in Tokio.
So this Kalofornia Kop Killings is not grabbing all the headlines, except probably on the Left Coast. Then because the kountry (lots of K's today) is still mucked up over the financial mess, Obamma's gun grabbers are gobbled up.
But we do know who is watching it.

I've seen/heard several news stories and none have mentioned what kind of weapon the bad guy had. One thing that is clear is that he was a very violent career criminal who had decided he was not going back to jail.
One of the most dangerous things about law enforcement work is you get used to a routine. You get used to routine interviews, patrols, traffic stops, and crooks who may run but surrender when you catch them. You are going through the routine when suddenly you find yourself in a fight to the finish. The bad guy is emotionally prepared but the cop has nano seconds to recognize the situation and shift gears.

No cops bashing on this one
The ones that need bashing are the imbeciles that gave this moron a parole!
The article I saw said he killed the motorcycle cops with a handgun and used a rifle in the apartment. I would like to know more details. Were the police wearing vests? How did the BG manage the second two murders? Looks like the SWAT guys would have been very cautious approaching a known armed (and willing to shoot) subject. Just my $.02.

First on vests. Very few departments issue armor to patrolmen. Therefore they can't insure that its' worn. The stuff is expensive and patrol officers aren't way up on the economic food chain so if they buy armor they tend to keep it forever. Unfortunately the stuff has a life expectancy and over time heat and moisture deteriorate the Kevlar's ability to resist gunfire. I know of at least two cases where officers were killed by bullets that hit in the armpit where the armor offers no protection.
As to the SWAT guys, they were going after a man who had just killed two policemen and I suspect their desire to get at him may have clouded their judgement a bit. That said their proceedures seem to be textbook from what I know of the incident. In this case the Flashbangs didn't disorient the bad guy and his fire on the officers was effective, very effective. The armor worn by swat teams while proof against any handgun will not stop centerfire rifle bullets at close range. I understand one of the dead swat guys was shot in the head anyway so armor wouldn't have mattered in his case.
