Bushmaster/Compass Lake Engineering AR15 from the CMP
Back in July of 2001 a friend of mine purchased a limited edition CMP engraved Bushmaster/Compass Lake Engineering AR15 from the CMP. He is thinking about selling it and I was hoping someone here might have some information or advice. I know it has the chrome Kreiger Barrel and polished crown. He bought the most expensive version and since has addwd a weight to the stock. The rifle has on about 100 rounds through it and comes with all the paperwork. Thanks!

Check the CLE website for the price of a similarly outfitted AR.

My guess would be somewhere between 1000 and 1200 depending on how decent the trigger is.

Wait a minute . . . a CHROME Kreiger barrel? You must mean stainless?
I missed the Kreiger part. Make it 1200 to 1400.

Thanks Sailorman and Kirk. I will post some pictures as soon as I photograph it. I am getting ready to list it for him. Greg

Compass Lake is one of the top AR builders in the US. Heavily represented at Camp Perry.

I own one.) They discontinued the program after a few years. So, at best it could be said they were made for a limited time period.
2. I don't think that logo is laser engraved, The only laser engraving was on the barrel by CLE and only for one year (I know. I own one). They stopped doing it because it raised a challenge that they were no longer service grade and could only compete as a match rifle.
3. As far as the price.. well, you have the invoice. You know what it sold for. $1235.00 or $1250.00. Somewhere around there. Unfired.
4. The CLE trigger has been bad mouthed by a number of shooters. It was a good trigger for its time and didn't give you any trouble if properly maintained but there are much better triggers now.
These are probably the reasons why no bid met your reserve.
Hope this helps...

My Dad shoots the same gun, no collector value however it is a top-notch AR it was offered at a discount to Thru the CMP. IT is a top notch NRA-CMP service rifle and I kick myself for not buying one when I could. He put a Gisselle trigger in his.
