    Nice fire...

    Mike,

Ya' makin' me want a fireplace out here in the Peaceshack. Hard to type with gloves on with the finger tips cut off. Was probably in the low twenties out here last night. Not in the shop but outside. I'm in southeast Louisiana and we have had below freezing nights for about a week now. Coupla' more to go and then in the sixties during the days. Thank Gawd. Don't remember a week this cold in all my just over fifty years. Brutal for us.

Al Gore's global warmin' is kickin' my azz!

Gonna' assemble a rifle tonight. Hope my finger tips don't stick to the metal.

    Death to brutal cold,

    Lancebear

Lance - I sure hope the "Craw-Dads' are deep down in the Mud in L'siana. I'd likely post a picture of my "ole skinney butt" if it got to 60 Degree's next week

Guess I'm lucky for twenties and no wind to speak of, wind makes it about ten times more brutal. Dang, wish I hadn't taken a dare and stuck my tongue on the lifle blalul.

I am an Environmental Engineer among other things (like a Petroleum Engineer), and I have studied the Global Warming issue about as much as most knowledgeable folks, and I have news for Al Gore (recipient of millions of dollars for his global warming "Studies") - there is almost nothing we can do to stop or reverse the current changes in climate. Has any one of them considered that a single eruption of a large to mega volcano will emit more greenhouse gases than man has in the past 100 years? Has anyone wondered why the scientists are having problems resolving issues with the temperature data? Ever wondered who was collecting temperature data 10,000 years ago (yes - I know about the tree ring correlation, but we are speaking of fractional degrees)? Does anyone really believe that passing a resolution that each country must reduce its average temperature climb will enable that country to do same (stupid beyond belief !)? You pay a fine if you don't succeed, but who gets the money?

So much for griping. I have experienced frozen ice for a longer period of time on my farm than I have in over ten years. I have to break ice twice a day for my livestock. The ice is getting thicker on a daily basis. I have to use a heavy 6 foot pry bar to hammer through the ice now (4 to 6 inches thick). In the past, we would have a day or so of temperatures high enough to melt the ice. Not so this year. We are over 30 days of below freezing temperatures now. It is not that it is viciously cold, it just doesn't get above freezing long enough to melt the ice, and no relief in sight.

    Jim
