Then you can rest assured it's whatever he said it is.

It looks outstanding, and I'd love to have one but they're out of my price range. You did very well for the price you paid. They usually ask $400 on up for worn examples.

It's very hard to tell originals from the good reproductions and you did the wise thing to buy from a reputable source.

The edge stitching on the tan side does not appear like the originals I've seen. Check on the war relics site for how it should be. The stitching should not be connected along the top on the tan side like it is on the green side. Hayes is an Honest dealer from my experience but some times he might miss something. Oh maybe he knows something I don't about these covers but all I've ever seen were like the one on war relic, Ray

Is there more to the tale here ? I have delt with him for over 30 years and never a problem with anything not being right. I have had good people change over time , from stand-up sellers to fake artists extraordinaire , I'd hate to have to cross him off the former and add to the latter with "M1 carbine George" .

He claims he bought it in a large tri sided bin of surplus from Camp Pendleton in 1987. However the stitching isnt vintage, its new copy..Take it for what its worth..I like the EGA on the front of this one better.
I suspect he knows...I will be much more careful now

At least one thing I've found with Hayes, he does take back and refund without a hassel if you think somethings not right. Ray

It looks to be in mint shape, therefore there should be a stamp on it with all the item info, at minimum a DSA #. I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would point out (correct me if I am wrong) a stamp on it.
