I see many threads relating to the bedding of specific firearms, but nothing relating to a more general question... Is there a consensus regarding re-bedding a milsurp rifle and how that affects its value from a collector's point of view?

It seems to me that the only way to properly complete the job is to free-float the barrel which means altering the front hand guards from their original configuration. That is, by doing so you are altering the correct configuration of the rifle to enhance its accuracy at the expense of its ability to strongly mount a bayonet.

Put simply, is re-bedding a milsurp considered an activity that "Bubba" engages in?
