    Canadian Long Lees?

I recently acquired an M&D-marked Lee-Enfield Mk.1 (1896 BSA). I've haven't been able to get any reliable information on how many Canadaicon actually had, and the circumstances under which we got them. I've heard everything from 40,000 being purchased to only those troops who served in the Boer War being issued them from Britishicon stores. Which is correct?

I have same rifle. Recall reading 4,000 were ordered by Canadaicon. I'll do a little search and see if can confirm that number. Any regimental marks on butt-plate? Mines the 30th (Guelph?).
