F55 is Probably Fazakerley 1955, F51 Fazakerley 1951....

Fairly common replacement barrels on Long Branch rifles. Why? No idea! But they turn up much more regularly than Canadian rebarrels.

Thanks again. So, the British Commonwealth was still servicing No. 4s in 1955 (if we assume F55 is Faz. 1955)?

We were still rebarreling and servicing them, albeit on a limited/restricted basis until the '90 or so
