Need imput on a dot 1944

Recently I pickup an 1944 Dot with a 5 digit s/n in the "a" block which would make it a late war mfg. It is in a stock with cleaning rod and take down disk and is "dot" marked but the stock s/n does not match the bolt/receiver s/n which are matching. The handguard has no s/n or marks.

Should all the late war "dot" rifles be in a kreighs/semi-kreigh stock or would they come with anything at hand this late in the war? This rifle has no import mark and I'm thinking it could be a post war rework.

I recently picked up a late war DOT rifle, it's an SWP45 with s/n 44606 which is at the very beginning of SWP code rifles. From what I can learn 1945 production began with Dot44 code rifles at s/n 1 in the a block. The around 43xxxa the code changed to SWP45. Your rifle should be stocked in the same manner as mine should be(and isn't, it was refurbed in DDR). It should have a laminated stock(very rough finish), stamped front and rear bands that are screwed in place, no stock disc (cupped buttplate in the white with bolt disassembly hole in it), no cleaning rod, no bayonet lug, stamped floorplate and trigger guard and no capture screws. I'm by no means an expert, I've just learned these things while researching my rifle. Hope this helps and if I've screwed up maybe one of the Mauser experts will correct me.

Your Dot sounds correct. Does your stock have any Dot stamp/marks on it? From what I have read, the stocks and handguards will not have any s/n on it either. I feel like mine is a refurb and put in a 1943 Dot stock. After a good cleaning, I took it to the range and fired it at l00yds. and it managed 2 3/4" group with 70's Yugo ammo.

I guess I wasn't very clear in my reply. Mine is a late war rifle same as yours but mine has also been refurbed(East German). My stock has no s/n except for the one the DDR put halfway between the toe of the stock and the pistol grip. The handguard is marked in ink with the s/n on the inside again courtesy of the East Germans, I think. Your's also should be as I described in my first reply as should mine. The late war mausers had no s/n on the barrel bands or stock, I think. Mine is marked in the same fashion as a few known East German refurbs have been marked; S/N on buttplate, stock, barrel bands, bolt handle( full s/n including suffix) cocking piece, firing pin,safety(last 2 digits), floorplate and trigger guard. From what I have read late war guns only were serial numbered on the action and bolt handle but someone may correct me.
