Reusing 03 barrels
Inquiring if a barrel from an 03 is safe to use for rebarreling on an 03A3 receiver, I'm generally aware of the stories regarding the low serial numbered receivers (also noted that the last reported incident was in the 1940's).
Ie; are the threads the same?
Are they safe to shoot with modern ammunition?
Would anything you can think of, preclude using a take off from an 03 for a modern rifle?
Thanks, and I realize it's a lot of questions from a newbie.

There ARE threads here about this...Chuckindenver does this sort of thing and has buckets of experience, you could message him and save lots of conjecture. But in short, yes it can safely be done and has been... We used 03/a3 barrels as a basic for many other projects that didn't even involve 1903 or A3s...
Here's Chucks page to get hold of him for direct advise... Military Surplus Collectors Forums
