Sarco M1D Barrel???
A friend recently offered to sell me an M1D barrel with pinned mounting block. The barrel with attached block had been ordered from Sarco as an M1D barrel, probably more than ten years ago. I could not find any markings at all on the barrel as it had been parkerized in some sort of non-military black shiny parkerizing, however the threads and chamber were bright. My question is, does anyone know if Sarco had these made up, or could it be a genuine GI takeoff barrel that was reparked? Friend did not want to remove parkerizing in the normal barrel marking locations to find out. Next question; would it even be possible to remove enough parkerizing with steel wool to determine if a GI barrel? Or would removing the parkerizing also remove the markings? Thanks, Frank

Sarco barrels were made up
The block where the scope bracket mounts is not as strong as a GI and it is common to have the threads strip out

Scapco sells Chinese parts and the infrequent Phillippine part. Good luck shopping with them.

Thanks for the input. So, did Sarco use common GI barrels to make these up, or did they use repro barrels? Also, are the mounting blocks repro? Thanks, Frank
