Which Scabbard/Sheath for the M1905E1 10" M1 Garand Bayonet?
I have what I believe to be an M1905E1 "second issue" bayonet. It has a 9-3/4" blade with one fuller on each side that terminates 3" from the end of the spear-point blade. It is marked on one side of the ricasso only as follows: AFH, Flaming Bomb and US (NO DATE). Nothing on the other side of the blade, nor anywhere else on the bayonet. Metal is about 90% in the white, with traces of what appears to be dark parkerizing remaining on the blade. Grips are black Bakelite. There is no scabbard, therefore my question: There are several different scabbards listed on the internet with varied markings. We will also be having a Gunshow here in Charleston on 26/27 November. What markings & materials am I looking for to try to match the bayonet with the appropriate scabbard?
Any advice appreciated! Thanks, Butch

Almost any of the M3 or M7 short fiberglass scabbards would be correct for this blade as both were used. Should be marked VP on the back and not be one of the Danish or Korean scabbards that seem to be prevalent now. Good luck on that...

if the fuller stops 3" from the tip its not an M1905E1 its an M1 , buy an M7 scabbord ,
the correct answer is above in either case , but i did match my cut down M1905 [E1] with a cutdown M3 scabbord ,

On a technical point I believe that would be correct.
