Mk4 No2 shooting low
Being a new member I have trawled all 22 pages in this forum and couldn't find a similar question, so here we go.
My Mk4 No2 has only fired 300 rounds 200 by the previous owner using a scope, I took this off an reinstated it's original leaf sight and folowing the zeroing procedures I have now fitted a -.030 foresight blade and at 100yrds rear sight set to 200 the POI is the same as the POA at 200yrds I have to set the rear sight to 300yrds, at 300yrds sights at 400yrds and so on. The ammunition I am using is Factory PPU 174grn.
Do I have to live with this or is there something that can be done that I have missed to sort this out?

I'll give it a go thanks, thought there might be something like that I remember back in the 70's they kicked like a mule, the recoil using PPU is more like my M4

Have a look in "Small Arms Training" Volume 1, Pamphlet No. 3, page 31. and you will understand what your problem is.
It seems as though all Lee Enfield Rifle sights were set to shoot at point of aim with a bayonet fitted. Remove the bayonet and the rifle will shoot one foot high at two hundred meters.
This manual explains quite a lot. Hope you come right.

Thanks D.J i'ts amazing what people know out there. Just a quick thought as shooting with a bayonet fitted is not the done thing around here would purchasing a cheap spike and cutting the end off and shooting with the remainder work? as this would drop the sight down with the added weight on the end of the barrel.

I'm afraid that the bayonet version of the story is not quite correct DJ and others. That instruction was superceded and only rifles with Mk2 flip-over backsights will be accuracy tested and zeroed with a bayonet fitted. A Mk2 rifle was only issued with and will only have a Mk1 backsight fitted.
