Hammer spring housing?
Why are there two .063 diam. holes in the trigger spring housing along side the trigger pin hole?
Part of the manufacturing process?

for the sear
I took a close look at the housing and the trigger. The two holes don't go all the way through the spring housing and form two grooves on the base. The sear has two little legs that engage the grooves so that the trigger spring can put pressure on the sear to engage the rear hammer hooks. Very clever set up Mr Garand! Sorry for the question.
