8x33 in open bolt BD42(H)
Friend of mine was having a terrible time tonight with his reloads in the BD42(H), which fires from an open bolt.
Same loads worked fine from his BD44 which fires from a closed bolt. In the BD42(H) Half of the rounds would not go off even though primers were hit by floating firing pin.

As you can see the brass is Priva either with the PPU or GRAF headstamps
I'm thinking the primer pockets are to deep.

Looks like a light firing pin strike. I am unfamiliar with how the BD42(H) functions or what you could do to remedy the situation, but the problem looks like a light strike.
Will these fire in the BD44?

Don't believe its the primer pockets, but it would be easy to check if you have a primer seating tool handy. If a fired primer (or a live one in a case that's had its bullet and powder removed) will go well below flush using the tool then they MIGHT be too deep.
Still, unless the primer pockets are also very loose it ought to fire. Esp. considering the rounds work in another weapon. I'd look for debris in the FCG, esp. in the firing pin channel. That or things are just gunked up something fierce! Weak springs are another thing to check for, although I reckon its a bit tough to find NOS replacements with which to compare 'em.

Primer pockets same specs as DA 7.62 I compared them to.
Original primers used were CCI BR
Federal was tried yesterday, too soft.
Need to find some Win.
