They are another variant with more and a different history behind them.

Most say they were well taken care of.

They were taking care of if you like a blue/black barrel with the name almost buffed off and a receiver you can barely read the maker under the blue finnish. The potbelly stock is also covered with some kind of polyurithane. The only good thing about the one I got is the type 1 band and a nice Rock-Ola front sight. There is no way of restoring it to any GI look. I will probably just give it to one of the grandkids to lug around the desert shooting.

I can see why people might want another variant, something different.
I don't like all the markings that they put on them. I know, history of the Carbine and all. It's just a variant that doesn't have much of an attraction to me. For someone else it might be all they collect.
That's the fun of the Carbine. It has something for each of us.

Found a real nice one the other day at a gunshop. Priced low and had some
real early parts. Closer I looked at it, they had filed off "U.S." of "U.S. carbine"
on top.
Ruined it for for me. Handed it back right quick..

FTD1167, That carbine you saw sounds alot like the one I just posted pics of. What were the asking price wise?
