Use in competition
Probably has been asked many times, but in terms of pure performance, would you suggest a 1903 or a 1903a3. Wich tipe of sight is more adjustable?
Thanks

I shoot both and I like the O3A3, it is a lot simpler to use(that's why they changed it).

A3 is more Old Eye friendly. 1903 has more adjustments, and is more complex to use.

They changed the '03 sight to the '03-A3 sight because it was a) cheaper b) easier to manufacture and c) it was more like the Garand rear sight. All of the above.

Final question, on a 1903a3,how much does a click in elevation change the point of impact at 100 meters ?

Depends on the individual " click" . The A3 sight is designed for a 50 yd increase in elevation with each click from the 200 yd setting to the 800 yd setting based on the drop of the standard M2 ball ammo. The difference between the 200-250 click is far different than the 750-800 click. The front sight can be changed out in 2MOA hights and , if desired , less via a file. The windage is in 1 MOA clicks.

By the way , as a rough guide , this is the click chart in MOA for a M1 Garand . This will help you see the changes over distance. Remember the 'A3 has 2 clicks between each 100 yds and starts at 200 .
