DWM produced Mauser 1895 7mm, a keeper. I think the early contract rifles were Ludwig Lowe marked. So, I'll guess an 1896 (?) build.
Try this:" Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken Aktien-Gesellschaft (German Weapons and Munitions public limited company), known as DWM, was an arms company in Imperial Germany created in 1896 when Ludwig Loewe & Company united its weapons and ammunition production facilities within one company. In 1896 Loewe founded Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken with a munitions plant in Karlsruhe (Baden), formerly Deutsche Metallpatronenfabrik Lorenz, and the weapons plant in Berlin. Shares that Loewe had in other gun- and ammunition plants were transferred to DWM. This included Waffenfabrik Mauser, Fabrique Nationale d'Armes de Guerre (FN) in Belgium and Waffen- und Munitionsfabrik A.G. in Budapest. The DWM was orchestrated by Isidor Loewe (1848–1910), as his brother Ludwig had died in 1886. The Loewe family was of Jewish descent. Karl Maybach (who was part of the Maybach company) was employed by the Loewe company in 1901.

Beautiful rifle. I have one of these rifles as well I wish it looked as good as yours. Your rifle is a bit earlier than mine. They were both manufactured inthe same serial number lot. Is the bolt handle bent or straight? Is the bolt face round or does it have a flat bottom. If I am not mistaken Model 95s had a round bolt face, while 93's had a flat bottom. 95s had a wider tang than the 93 they also had a notch cut in the reciever just below the bolt handle. Im guessing that yours is a 93 contract rifle for Chile. You can see all of my pictures on my post "Pictures of my1893 Chilean Mauser ". page 2 of the mauser forum. Ive not taken mine out to a proper range yet. Just a few shots on my backyard range with some mild 140grain handloads. Ive heard this rifle likes the 170 grain bullet better.Ihavent tried any yet as all I have are 140s that I laod for my 7x57 deer rifle. Again good for you for finding such a beatiful rifle. fishn
