Small sight cover mark on LL Garands

I was reading an article about the little mark on the sight covers of the LL Garands in one of the GCAicon books and got mine out of the safe to see if it was on there. It is very small but I tried to capture it so it can be made out. The books are old so there may allready be pictures out there, if so I apologize.

symbol, number or letter on early rear sight covers

There is quite a list if you dig into early GCAicon newletters. The marking appears to have started after the drawing number was deleted on the Springfield flat cover in mid 1940.

Winchester flat covers are not marked all others are Springfield Attachment 41721Attachment 41720Attachment 41722Attachment 41723Attachment 41724Attachment 41725

What's strange is it appears to be raised instead of stamped.

We've already discussed this here once but I don't think anyone came up with any meaning to the marks. Mine looks like a tiny V...
