World of guns game, Is the BREN MKII model accurate?
There is a game on steam called World of guns: gun disassembly. It prides itself for accuracy of the gun models used. It's basically a jigsaw puzzle of guns.
Well on my quest for accurate data and measurements to model a BREN gun for my game mod, I went and unlocked the Bren MKII in the game.
Only it seems to be some sort of Frankenstein gun. It has a UK makers mark on the receiver near the charging handle i think its called?
As far as i can tell from looking at it everything is MKII except they seem to have put:
a buttplate from MKIII on the butt,
a MKI barrel with a MKII carry handle on it.
Have I missed spotting any differences?
And does it look too scale and correct.
cheers.

It is pretty good except for the barrel. The carry handle is correct for the Mk II but the barrel you have pictured is for the Mk I. The Mk II barrel did not have the stainless sleeve over the front half of the barrel. It had a stainless gas block and the rest of the front half was blued/parkerised with a separate flash hider cone.

That looks pretty good. As said, shame about the barrel but I bet it was modelled on a US semi.

I'm just surprised about the buttplate. Its not on any version of the gun made anywhere that i can find.
The dust cover that slides over where the magazine goes being smooth instead of with grooves in is because its from a uk factory i believe.

The Butt plate is the correct later version. Peter L wrote about this in one of the posts. The original plate had an overhang at the top which caused the but to split if the gun was dropped on its Butt. It was common place to either fit a new flush Butt plate (can’t remember the Mk number) or to flatten the earlier Butt plate and modify it to the profile of the late version. Also the recess at the top screw position was smoother out on some chipped butts.

Ah ok, so it really is only the barrel that is odd with this gun.
Time to get modelling

Well it wouldn’t have left the factory with that barrel and I doubt many Armourers in British Service would fit a Mk1 Barrel to a Mk2 unless it was the last barrel available but it was certainly commonplace in other countries. The Helenic Air force springs to mind.
