    P1864 Nepal Snider

    Hello All,
I just bought an IMA Nepal Snider and I have a couple of questions. I have read that you can use straight wall brass in these guns without sizing them. I purchased the brass @ $4 each and they don't fit. It appears the brass needs a small shoulder in order to fit. Ate there two types of chambers? Second..I bought 24 gauge plastic shotgun hulls and cut them down to 2". They fit but not with the recommended .600 round ball in them. Should I go with .595 or smaller round ball and what is the smallest I should use? I don't mean to sound stupid but I am new to the Snider.

I just posted a responce to your other thread. My rifle is the same as yours. Magtech brass shells are slightly snug but will hold a .60 round ball. The thicker walled plastic shells end up being too thick after shoving a ball into the mouth of the case. I haven't decided weather to buy some .595 balls or drill out a steel plate and size some .60 balls smaller.

I have recently gone thru this very process. Surprisingly, I found that both .595 and .580 round balls work accurately in my rifle. I get better accuracy with FFFg powder than with FFg. I use 50 grains with two 1/8" card wads and beeswax/olive oil lube both above and below the ball. If you need supplies, Track of the Wolf is a good source.
