In the NRA marked pistols, the Colt is much scarcer than the Springfield. At the same time, the 1903 Springfield could be ordered by an NRA member in a "target model" which had a specially selected star gaged barrel. It was marked on the front of the trigger guard with the flaming bomb and N.R.A. This was a different time and place when our government trusted us with the latest service rifle and pistol.
The coming of WWI stopped the sale of these weapons.
