Remington Rand 1911A1 magazine letter code

What would be a "correct" letter code marked magazine for a Remington Rand 1911A1? Is there a listing somewhere matching the different pistol and magazine manufacturers? Thanks, Bob B.

L, R, S, or G marked mags would all be correct for your RemRand pistol. That stands for Little, Risdon, Scovill and General Shaver.

If you go to http://www.coolgunsite.com and look around, they have pictures of all the above mentioned mags. Also while their, you should order one of Charles W. Clawson's books on collectiong the 1911 and 1911A1 service pistol.

A magazine with an "S" , "R" , "L" , or a "G" General Shaver mag. See this website and look up under ID pages, then select mags.

    Hope this helps.

I was a little to late with the info. Beaten to the punch.

Some think 'G' General Shaver mags are a little more correct, since they were a Division of Remington Rand.

I have a few 'G' mags if you need one.
