What a great piece! Assuming it isn't a reproduction; the Type 56 puts it after 1956 and the soldier holding up a picture of Mao suggests pre 1976 as Mao died in 1976. Very nice. Regards. Tom

I can't actually read Chinese but I wouldn't mind betting that a couple of the charcters mention the USA, America or Imperialist running dogs!

Thanks! I was hoping somebody else would tell me what they see in the image. The only thing I see is that the man should be holding the "Little Red Book" in his right hand but that would throw the whole image off.
If I can't find anybody to translate, I may take it to a Chinese food place

LOL. My dad is a production designer and once he did a Vietnam war movie. He was always walking down to the corner store run by a Vietnamese couple asking them to write out character for him.

Nope, he's got a pistol in his right hand - which you can't see

Actually, paralleling a cigarette advertisement of a similar vintage*, I think it says "Us little red book readers would rather fight than switch!"
*Also in a red-and-white package, if I recall correctly!

Just by the meaning of some of the characters, I piece together "First..establish..?...liberation...?.....bay". I really hate to put something like this in front of my Chinese friends to read, but maybe I'll try.

Perhaps it translates " Go to Walmart and buy more of our inferior goods so we can build more cool aircraft carriers and stealth aircraft".
Very nice piece regardless of translation.
