Winchester Trench Shotgun Handguard/Adapter Screws
What are the dimensions of the three mounting screws? I can't find the information in Poyer or Canfields books...

A few years ago I tried to have some screws made. I had a friend who owned a gun shop and a lumber yard/hardware store, and he had access to screw makers. I forget the thread, but it is OBSOLETE. Not made for many many years. There was no way to get a small quantity made.
However.
One of the band screws from the Springfield '03, (or maybe a Garand, I don't recall now) has the same thread and will work. I used a few of them back in the day.

There's a guy who makes screws and sells them. He makes repro heat shields. Simpson LTD is the company you're looking for. He makes screws for the Winchester, Stevens and Ithaca heat shields.

Ah yes! East Taylor is who I was thinking of for the screws, not Simpson LTD. My apologies for the bad info! I've ordered a set if screws and a heat shield from them. They are well made items but I'll be honest, I've had a heck of a time getting it to fit properly on the gun. The heat shield itself is very sturdy, but the screw holes don't line up exactly making it impossible to put them in. However if you have an authentic heat shield, just getting the replacement screws should work out ok for you I would think.

I bought a set of trench gun adapter screws from East Taylor for an original Ithaca trenchguard. The screw set they forwarded were correct length but all a bitt oversize in the screwhead diameter. A minor irritation at 10 bucks apiece. A few minutes with electric drill and a file solved the problem. Aside from this minor cockup, I have no complaint with East Taylor's product and would recommend them to anyone.

To follow up to my original post, I recently came into possession of an original Stevens heat shield. Putting it on my trench gun was a VASTLY different, and better, experience than trying to get the repro heat shield on that I ordered from them. The parts are well made, that's for sure. Just not well fitted. Screw holes didn't line up and the diameter of the end piece that fits over the muzzle was so tight that when it was finally on the barrel it forced it open enough to where it would have defied all laws of physics to get the screws to go through to the other side, even if the holes did properly line up with the grooves (which they didn't). Pretty disappointing really.
