Talking Enfield .45 Carbine and kits.

    Ok, I have to ask.....

Why would anyone want to do this? Price of ammo, or something else I'm missing?

I can think of a few reasons:

    - .45's cheaper than .303
    - to build a DeLisle replica
    - to run a very quiet suppressed rifle
    - you have LE pieces laying around not doing anything

Since the suppressor is out of the question in Canadaicon, the only valid reason I'd ever consider one would be a DeLisle replica.

It would make a nice little plinking carbine for kids or ladies. Personally, if I wanted a pistol calibre carbine, I'd get a 9mm AR or a Mech-Tech CCU for my Glock.

It's definitely for the delisle effect. In this way you can make a copy of an otherwise unobtainable Enfield variant.
I have seen a few mockups with fake cans on them, and there is a real sense of nostalgia to them. However, I believe the hype over the Delisle may be along the lines of the hype over the Avro Arrow and the honest politician.....the legends are bigger than the reality. There would have been a reason why the army went with the silenced sten over the delisle.

At 18" the barrel makes it restricted, does it not?
IN that case Stevo is right, you might as well have a 9mm AR.

It would be a bit of a stretch to use one of these kits to make up an accurate DeLisle reproduction. Have a look at Mudpuppy's serious reproductions over at CGN. Would be a fun way to recyle a bubba'd beyond hope sporter. Might be able to shoot a pistol calibre carbine where a fullbore rifle cartridge would be out of the question.

It would be non-restricted as overall length is the deciding factor for non-semiauto firearms. It would be the same as an 870 with a 14" barrel.

That seems to make it a little more reasonable. Might make an alright little plinker for someone with such desires.

I think it would be great for raccoons! And it would be a good way to salvage all those cut up rifles. If you are rich........
