Screw on Sht Lee Enfield cocking piece
I have a nice CLLE (1893/1910) that is complete and has a quite nice bore. Problem (maybe) is that the screw is missing from the cocking piece and I'm wondering if it is safe to shoot (reloads/starting loads ... not milsurp) with the screw missing?
If not, is there a suggested place for a replacement screw?
Thanks,
Bill

It's not going to blow up in your face BUT if the striker begins to unscrew from the cocking piece it'll affect the function of the trigger and sear so yes, I'd call it a safety concern. I'm unaware of a source for these. Ask Scott if he could make one for you-see link.

Thanks, Steve. I have to get a couple of other screws from Scott for other projects, so I will throw that at him. Certainly worth a shot!

I'm 85% sure that the thread is the same as No1 mk3's, even if the nut might be a different shape. before committing to Scott and other experts try one of those to see if its a fit, if so there's a million of them around.

Unfortunately the SMLE screw is just a bit too big.
