    John:
What is the Serial #, mine is 244137x, and was released by the DCM in 1963 for $20.00 + shp by Railway Express. I have had it since 1977 when my late mentor had a stroke and couldn't use it anymore.

    My Remington Rand

2229962. Finish doesn't look quite the same as John's. Any thoughts? My camera work leaves a lot to be desired.

Mine was also a DCM gun, serial number 2438XXX (1945) and does not look like either of yours. It's finish has a lighter, more grey / silver look to it -- not like the earlier parked Rem/Rands -- which I'm told is correct for late guns.
Of course, it could be the lighting as to how your pics were made.

Another question for the experts: where all or most these DCM guns
refinished? There are no rebuild stamps on mine and it appears unfired.
I have the papers and Railroad Express shipping ticket.

There is definately many different variations in color on the Rem-Rands. And you are correct, the later ones did, for the most part, have a lighter colored finish than did the earlier ones.
Most of the DCM pistols you spoke of were just in excellent original condition when sent out. But there were definately a few arsenal rebuilt pistols sent out as well. All pistols were sent out at random and what you got is what got.
