L1A1 Stock, Pistol Grip, and Flash Suppressor
My son recently bought two L1A1/FALs (Metric Receivers, most everything else inch pattern). One has a thumbhole stock (beyond ugly). Where can we buy a plastic/nylon L1A1 Stock and pistol grip with all the required screws/small parts to replace the thumbhole stock (American made a plus, but not essential)?
Also, both of the rifles came without flash suppressors (I know, we are working to get compliance parts to compensate). What does it take to put a flash suppressor/muzzlebrake on a plain barrel and where can we get the parts?
Thanks.

Ugly Thumbhole Stocks

I agree, these thumbhole stocks are butt ugly (literally). So I bought a Molot
Vepr 12 and couldn't stand the Dragonov style butt it came with. The alternatives were to recatorgorise as E class or make my own A class stock from standard AK parts.
The brief was 'how would the military go about this' - it would be simple, minimalist, strong, made of metal and serve more than one function.
This is what I came up with: materials are 12x5 and 15x3 mild steel flat. Cost nothing, time - heaps of thinking. Needed to get away from the glued and screw look so everything is pinned and epoxied and welded into the parent parts. The stock and grip are made by Tapco.

The 12x5mm flat threads through the 15x3 but is not connected, which allows a little flexibility for fixing the pistol grip, but is very strong. The hole at the bottom can be an alternative sling position, for a wrist lanyard, or attachment needed in the field.
There is plenty of room for the thumb, so nothing compromised there. All in all very pleased I don't have to use the ugly stock supplied.
