Trying to find an L1A1 part

    Hi everyone,

I've got an old BSA L1A1 that was cut up into a parts kit that I'm trying to restore to her former glory. One problem I've run into is that the Pistol Grip Sleeve (NSN 1005-99-960-2344, Part # P3/15268/306) was apparently cut off with a hack saw - judging by the marks on the underside of the lower receiver. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement one? I've tried Numrich, Gun Things, DSA and Enterprise and struck out at all of them. Any help would be appreciated!

    Cheers

The part was never available as a spare part although they did work loose and/or rotate. We could tighten them up by supporting the sleeve in a jig and 'gently swage' it from inside. I suggest that you just cut it away totally and make a new one. Make it a good tight fit and swage it in place from above like the original

Longshaor, If you can't find one it is an easy part to make for someone that has a lathe. Do you have any friends with a small lathe? Salt flat

It's already been totally cut away, so I don't have anything to pattern it on. Is it similar to the Pistol Grip Screw Bushing?

Longshaor, Just to make sure we are talking about the same part--- I think what you are taliking about is the pistol grip bushing. These were removed on rifles built as sporters so CAI could install the politically correct thumbhole stock. It is what keeps the pistol grip located properly. These are avilable on the Gunthings website. Salt Flat

Longshaor, I made a sketch of a bushing I have. Measure the hole in your lower and the grip hole and make sure this will work for you. Salt Flat
