Spanish Ruby gunsmithing
Attachment 27538Anyone able to shed any light on how to "seal the rear of the receiver with a piece of steel rod" I have a .25 caliber spanish auto of which the firing pin sent the little steel tab flying into obscurity somewhere in my garage. I am at a loss as to how to pattern another.

I'd guess it was originally a short rod that was slightly larger than the hole. Driven in, filed near flush, possibly peened around the periphery if there's a chamfer on the hole in the slide, and then filed and sanded/polished flush with the slide. THEN the slide was blued.
I would guess further that it was likely a tapered hole with the large end toward the front. So the filler would be driven in front to rear. But that's just a guess.
